Alicia Keys’ new karma leaves fans wanting for biggest hits
Most of us know there's very little Alicia Keys can't do well.

It's pretty clear that when it comes to vocal prowess, piano-playing ability and songwriting savvy, Keys has it all - and looks picture-perfect to boot.

So it makes sense that the 29-year-old r & b songstress, now four albums deep in her career, would seek to move beyond prescribed boundaries. Especially since her latest album, and the accompanying tour, is titled "Freedom."

Monday night at a sold-out Agganis Arena, Keys fiddled with formula and opted for a set list that was more artistic than anthemic, drawing heavily from her latest album, which has a slow-to-build appeal.

While Keys, her live band and backup singers were virtually impeccable musically, she seemed intent on holding out on her biggest hits, often introducing unexpected twists and turns into familiar songs.

When the 90-minute set began, you expected one of her pulse-pounding smashes. Instead, she opted for "Love Is Blind", a midtempo burner that found a curly-haired, spandex-wearing Keys writhing inside a cage. It was a more theatrical way to open the show, but somehow it felt anti-climactic.

Herald Interview
I found this interview @ BostonHerald.COM. Stunning <3

Herald: Why don’t we ever see your name next to Amy Winehouse’s or Lindsay Lohan’s doing bad things? What’s your secret to being so normal and staying grounded?

Keys: My trick to being normal and staying grounded is being normal and staying grounded. It’s the way I like my life to be. I love to have my privacy. Now I love meeting people too, so if I’m out on the street and someone spots me I greet them and thank them for saying hi. But I explain that I’m out with my family and move on without a lot of fanfare. I think it really disarms people. People go, “Wow, she’s just a regular person.” But they also become aware of my boundaries.

You seem to put a lot of effort into charity work. I know your Keep a Child Alive organization is a big part of your life. Have you always been interested in issues of global health and poverty, or is this new for you?

I’ve always been an empathic person. But I hadn’t been outside of America much until I started touring. That’s when I got to know what was going on with Africa’s AIDS pandemic. As I learned about the lack of access to medicines and orphan issues, the problems started to pull at me. So Keep a Child Alive has actually been around for almost 10 years now. We provide the medicine for children and families who have AIDS and wouldn’t be able to afford it.

Scots roots instilled a work ethic that helped make me successful
Alicia Keys reckons her Scots origins have helped her become the global superstar she is today.
The R& B superstar, in the charts with the brilliant Empire State Of Mind Part II, puts her success and how she has coped with it down to her mum Terri, who is part-Scottish, part Italian-Irish.
Born Alicia Augello Cook, she was raised by Terri and her African-American paternal grandmother Virgiel in the tough Hell's Kitchen area of Manhattan, after her parents divorced when she was two.
And Alicia insists her mum instilled in her the work ethic that led to her becoming one of the world's most successful music stars of the past decade.
As well as the follow-up to Part I of Empire State Of Mind with Jay Z, her fourth album The Element Of Freedom is also storming the charts.
Having sold a staggering 30million records and won 12 Grammy Awards since her 2001 debut album Songs in A Minor, she says: "I have been to Scotland a couple of times.

"I like it, especially as my mother is part-Scottish. I get confused by my family background, but that much I am positive of.

Grand opening & Great Performance
Welcome to AliciaKeysFan.NET - your latest and HQ source for everything Alicia Keys! AKF just opened and are glad to see you here.

Alicia Keys performed at the Maidson Square Garden on March 17 - with Beyonce. Check those stunning photos of the live event out!

And with Beyoncé making a surprise appearance onstage, it was only fitting that her husband do the same. As Keys momentarily stopped playing piano, Swizz Beatz ran onstage and was soon followed by none other than Jay-Z. Times Square and the city skyline engulfed the arena as scenes of the city shined brightly for the sea of people. There's something especially moving about listening to the ode to New York City "Empire State of Mind" while actually in the city itself.
